I'm sorry for how cliche this sounds, guys... but we can't believe our little girl is SEVEN!! Kizi had some of her best buds from school and church over for a party the Saturday after her birthday.
Yes, you have permission to snicker. I had a "horsey" cake for quite a few years when I was a little girl, and Kizi wanted one as well. I thought in general I did a pretty good job... until it came to writing on the thing. I want to throttle whoever created that write-on frosting stuff. It wouldn't go and it wouldn't go and then it would go and not stop. DAH! The sweet thing is that I hid my annoyance with it and Kizi seemed to genuinely like it. At one point I even said, "don't you think I did the writing a little weird?" and she was just so enthralled with the cake (I don't think she was pretending for my sake, anyway) that she declared that she loved every part of it. What a sweetheart. I guess that's one of the benefits of not nit-picking at my kids all the time. They don't nit-pick back at me.
I am rarely in photos, and I am grudgingly allowing a couple of me despite the fact that I didn't have time to do my hair so I look like a homeless person from the 80's. At least I let people take photos of me instead of refusing to take any because I think I look awful even though I know people who love me don't care what I look like, unlike some people (LEAH!!!)
I love it when people give books as gifts. Kizi got abridged-- but still pretty hefty-- versions of "Black Beauty," "The Call of the Wild" and "Anne of Green Gables" and had devoured all of them within about a week and a half, I think.
I love it that Jonathan helps out at parties! He's such a good sport. :)
I can't wait to get a photo of these same girls in ten years. Okay-- yes I can wait, in fact I want the time to go by slowly! But they are all such good, sweet girls. Lilly & Aimee, Sydney, Paige, Kizi, Elle, Kieryn and Kylie. Also there but not in the photo were Sarah and Harley, big sisters to a couple of the girls. And of course, Jon and Leah, who threw twelve fits when I wanted to photograph them. This is my revenge. Mwa ha ha ha ha...
"and next we will have the Feats of Strength!"
Harley, Kizi and Elle
