~ after Christmas & New Year's Eve

One of the best parts of Christmas is just the relaxing, playing, and quiet time we all get after it's over.

Calvin built a "lab" in the laundry room and proceeded to start running experiments.

Kiziah begged me to teach her how to use the sewing machine... which I barely know how to do, but we got it going.

Jonathan caught up on some naps.

We all read a lot.

Kiziah is reading "A Wrinkle In Time," one of my all time favorites. I got her the boxed set, and although she started reading it herself, I've been reading it to the kids at night, and they are mesmerized.

We even got to have Jon and Leah over for a visit on their way to the airport.

Jonathan was on call New Year's Eve, but the kids and I stayed up late to watch some of the festivities. We traditionally have friends over, so we did that New Year's Day night. And of course, I completely forgot to take any photos. Matt and Kathy, Paul and Tammy, and a great new couple in the ward, Kevin and Shannon, all came over for super delicious Kwan's takeout and sparkling cider. We were going to play games, but instead the girls got to talking in the kitchen, and the guys got to talking in the living room and before we knew it, the night was over.

beautiful...

The world has enough women who are tough;
we need women who are tender.
There are enough women who are coarse;
we need women who are kind.
There are enough women who are rude;
we need women who are refined.
We have enough women of fame and fortune;
we need more women of faith.
We have enough of greed;
we need more goodness.
We have enough of vanity;
we need more virtue.
We have enough popularity;
we need more purity.
