~ live Nativity

Our church has a new Stake Center (a big chapel/meeting house) in West Salem, and a new tradition to go along with it:
a live Nativity.
This was a beautiful thing for our members as well as the community... all too often people think that we are not Christian. We often have to point out the name of our church:
The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints.
It was free to everyone and there were barrels to collect food for the needy. More than 1200 people showed up!! It was just beautiful...
Brother Galati spent the three hours as Isaiah composing a love letter to his wife!
the angels appearing to the shepherds
pregnant Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem
(on my friend Terri's pony, since we couldn't find a rideable donkey!)
the manger scene
lots of happy families
and happy missionaries
trees covered in lights lined the path the visitors took
and yes, there was even a camel! That's Nigel the camel off to the left, and there was also a donkey off to the right in the manger scene
our friends the McCauleys
lovely angels singing
wondering awe...
visiting with friends...
beautiful decorations in the gym...
amazing displays of cookies, and lots of hot chocolate
our dear friends the Bahrs
lots of singing
Jose and Juan
(Joseph and Jonathan)
my favorite manger scene photo...
Nigel loving the attention...
Kiziah reflecting...
Carol and Andy (before the camel tried to eat Andy's face)
our favorite angel, Libby

me getting ready to take the "donkey" home.  :)

beautiful...

The world has enough women who are tough;
we need women who are tender.
There are enough women who are coarse;
we need women who are kind.
There are enough women who are rude;
we need women who are refined.
We have enough women of fame and fortune;
we need more women of faith.
We have enough of greed;
we need more goodness.
We have enough of vanity;
we need more virtue.
We have enough popularity;
we need more purity.
