Once again the boys made their super simple Pinewood Derby cars and once again kicked butt! Calvin got 3rd and Caleb got 1st place in their Webelos division, so Caleb gets to go to District!

3.29.2011 ~ science projects
A few science projects we've been working on around here lately...
~ toilet training the cat: FAILED
So, the toilet training bombed. But it was completely hilarious to watch Diesel watch the cat on the instructional video.
~ Vibram 5 Fingers for Tamara: SUCCESS! (I got the black ones and love 'em)
~ adding a new link (Diesel the cat) in the Pugmire food chain: SUCCESS! (= no fatalities)
~ Gracie (the border collie) and Diesel (the cat) becoming best friends: IN PROGRESS
~ hot water + bubbles + Tamara = SUCCESS!
~ Diesel the cat becoming more comfortable around the dogs: SUCCESS!
~ Jonathan's occasional cooking attempts: SUCCESS!!
(these are two of our favorites, slow-cooker peanut butter chicken above, and pineapple chicken below)
~ can the Christmas tree stay green until spring? SUCCESS!
(I have to say, I found this very strange and slightly freaky... all I did was leave it in its stand out on the deck...)
but then, we're pretty okay with strange and freaky around here.
Friday
3.25.2011 ~ beach trip
We lucked out with some gorgeous weather at the beach!
(and those who don't live here... you should know that you're looking at the D River-- officially the shortest river in the world! Yep, I know... we're so lucky...)
We had a super yummy lunch at Kyllo's
and had fun checking out the shops, including some funny bumper stickers...
and some ridiculous candy... (remember cigarette gum? that's a great message to send to kids!)
and met up with our friends the Wintersteens and had fun watching the kids play chicken with the waves.
3.18.2011 ~ Great Wolf Lodge
Once again we headed up to Great Wolf Lodge for some fun family time at their indoor water park in Washington during Spring Break.

beautiful...
The world has enough women who are tough;
we need women who are tender.
There are enough women who are coarse;
we need women who are kind.
There are enough women who are rude;
we need women who are refined.
We have enough women of fame and fortune;
we need more women of faith.
We have enough of greed;
we need more goodness.
We have enough of vanity;
we need more virtue.
We have enough popularity;
we need more purity.
